As soon as the supernatural is absent, people look for and settle for other options, those that can be done by them without having to rely and yield to the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was sent so that the supernatural would be present, tangible and a reality

Signs, miracles and wonders can be seen and experienced by those who remain faithful..

Without the Holy Spirit we end up with form and concept; religious does and don'ts instead of fulness in Christ and a supernatural and rich relationship.
